About Earl's Golf Blog

Earl Svenningsen is a half century member of the PGA of America. He has spent his entire career in the golf business. He has played on the PGA Tour, been the teaching professional at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and La Quinta Country Club in the Palm Springs valley, before being the head professional at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis and for the most of his career the head professional at Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, Colorado. For the past 20 years, he owned the nationwide golf school, VIP Golf Academy, with 9 locations around the country. Presently, he has started his own golf school,  Advance Golf School, hosted at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona in Arizona. Earl lives in Sedona with his wife of 50 years where he teaches golf, runs his golf school, writes his blog, and of course plays golf.

Earl started playing golf in earnest at age seven in southern California and was successful in junior golf tournaments, which earned him a scholarship to the University of Southern California. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. While at USC, his team’s only lost two dual matches and won the conference championship each year. Earl’s best USC team had a third place finish in the NCAA championships.   Upon turning professional, he realized his dream to play the PGA Tour, but unfortunately not to the degree that he hoped. He turned his attention to the golf business and teaching. In Colorado he was recognized as the Colorado PGA Teacher of the Year and was awarded four Horton Smith Awards for excellence in education. He has taught nationally for the PGA of America instructing other golf professionals the art of teaching. As a senior player he was won the Colorado PGA stroke and match play titles, the Nevada Open, the New Mexico Open, Rocky Mountain Open, and Colorado Club Professional Championship, and a super senior Southwest PGA Section title.

Earl writes about what he enjoys the most, “Golf". I hope you enjoy my insights into the world of golf that has encompassed my whole life. Please visit the contact page and share your comments and subscribe to the Blog. Enjoy!
