New Year's wishes and hopes

Wishing you and all your family the very best for a healthy and prosperous New Year. Hope your new year features many birdies and a reduction of your handicap! As I have in the past, I have posted wishes and hopes for prominent golfers for 2025.

2024 was the emergence of a superstar in Scottie Scheffler, who outclassed a talent rich class of excellent golfers. His seven PGA wins, plus an Olympic Gold Medal, put him in the rarified air that only Tiger Woods has reached. His attitude, skill level and composure are such that his potential is unlimited. My wishes for him are continued good health and the desire for sustained excellence.

Rory McIlroy – hope for a Green Jacket to fulfill a long overdue dream

Xander Schauffele – wish for you to find a way to step out of Scottie Scheffler's shadow

Patrick Cantley – wish for you to let your talent come out and not be so mechanical

Viktor Hovland – wish for more infectious smiles that results in more wins and a major

Ludvig Aberg – wish for you to use your tour best golf swing to produce meaningful victories

Keegan Bradley – wish for a Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage and a team that is united in purpose

Justin Thomas – his career is at a crossroads. He is expecting greatness and has placed undue pressure on himself to attain his goal. Wish for him to relax and let his talent take him where it should be.

Jordan Spieth – wishing good health and renewed confidence that he can trust.

Rickie Fowler – the Tour's best good guy. Not as talented as the media wants you to believe, BUT he is good enough to win and challenge. The Tour needs him. I wish only good things for Rickie.

Collin Morikawa – wish for him to find a putting stroke that he can stick to. Greatness will then follow.

Will Zalatoris – wishing him a healthy year, so we can see how talented he is LIV Tour – continue playing your exhibition amateurish tournaments in relative seclusion, but please don't think your exhibitions are meaningful

Jon Rahm – I wish I didn't miss you, but you are the only LIV player that I miss seeing. Hope you are enjoying your money.

Bryson DeChambeau – will see you in the Majors, but otherwise no a big loss

Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Michelson, Cameron Smith – are you still playing golf?

Tiger Woods – a healthy year, free from surgeries, and hope to see you play some meaningful golf. You still move the needle anytime you play. Can only wish we have not seen the last of some great golf from the best that ever played the game.

The new year will have new rising stars and the decline of some older greats, but it will still be a test of mental fortitude and nerves to determine the champions. Golf is a game for a lifetime and the PGA Tour keeps changing, but excellence is still on display each week. Money is important, but the winning among the best is the ultimate goal. Looking forward to another great year in 2025.
